Welcome to 2019

This is going to be a great year!

I love the beginning of a new year. There's something refreshing about setting goals, writing in a brand-new calendar (okay, that's only for my blog scheduling, as my daily events calendar is on my phone), and starting new things. I just love it!

For the past several years I've chosen a word of the year and even longer than that (at least a couple of decades) I've set annual goals. Some years I track these better than other years... but as I said...

This is going to be a GREAT year!

I chose my word of the year for 2019 very early this year; in October, in fact. (Usually I don't choose it until the last week or two of the year.) I know it is what I need for this year...

As I did last year, I've journaled a page in my Bible based on my word of the year.

The Lord says:
If you look for me wholeheartedly,
you will find me.
Jeremiah 29:13

Joy Clair Stamps - God's Focus

I am planning on focusing on the important stuff in 2019 - God, family, and friends, certainly, but I'm also going to focus on setting goals regularly and striving to attain those goals, whether it's...

* learning something new (like how to do live video on Facebook since I'll need to use it to facilitate an online Bible study group for the women of our state in February) or goals to

* organizing, cleaning, purging

* spending quality time with family/friends (I need to see my parents more regularly, for instance)

* etc.

I'm also going to focus on three craft-related goals:

1. I have my wood-mounted, cling-mounted, and clear acrylic stamp sets inventoried on Evernote, but I've not yet tackled doing that with my individual rubber stamps. This is the year.

2. I have things organized (for the most part) in my Working Studio, but nothing is labeled. I asked for - and received - a label maker for Christmas so now I can get things labeled. This is the year.

3. As I've done the past two years, I have a 50-week personal challenge this year (you'll hear about that on my blog next Tuesday) but I've also decided to do a personal challenge once every quarter. I need to step out of my comfort zone and this is one way to do that. This is the year.

January - March
Create/share 7 cards made with a single stamp set.

April - June
Weekly blog posts with a Flea Market Flip theme (find items at flea markets, thrift stores, estate sales, etc. to use on a card). Note: this is like my Treasure Hunt cards of days gone by.

July - September
Create/share a Simple to Spectacular card. Start with a basic card, add to it making it better, then add to it again making it spectacular.

October - December
Create/share a weekly "nativity" card.

Yes, I think 2019 is going to be a GREAT year!

Goal setting helps me to stay focused and you, my friends, keep me accountable. I would hate to disappoint you.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

You certainly have set lots of ambitious goals for 2019. I wish you good luck with them all. Love your word. That would fit for me too. Looking forward to seeing your new personal challenge next Tuesday. Great journaling page too. Happy New Year!

Oh a practical word indeed - one I'm sure will be the start of a great year! This was my word in 2015 - it helped! Great goals - lots splitcoast ideas I'm seeing! Great springboard for lots of fun cards/projects ahead! Happy New Year!
