Labor Day? Seriously!?!?!?

Did the title of this blog post catch your eye? Are you wondering what my card has to do with Labor Day? And what is it with all of those question marks and exclamation points???

The answer lies in Barb's June Ready Set Go! theme.

On the third Wednesday of each month Barb, Kelly and I have an "extreme challenge" that we call Ready Set Go! We take turns choosing the theme... and it can't be the normal kind of theme. This one needs to have a bit of kick to it.

This month Barb's theme would have been fairly easy - except!

Okay, first let me tell you the theme.

This is Barb's challenge...

You need to ask your spouse the following three questions:
1—what is their favorite color?
2—have them pick a number between 1 and 5
3—pick a holiday or occasion—it does not have to be their favorite, but could be.  Examples Memorial Day, birthday, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s  Day, etc.

Now—with this information, you are to create a card for that holiday, that uses their favorite color and has the number they picked reflected on your card.

So I did that. I asked Brent. DUH! Couldn't he have said Christmas!?!?!? Or maybe Halloween or even Thanksgiving? No! He said Labor Day. Labor Day??? Seriously?????????

Okay, I don't have anything in my vast stash that even remotely looks like Labor Day stuff. After all, who sends Labor Day cards??

So... I put on my thinking cap... and this card was born...

The woman on my card obviously loves her job - and wants to celebrate Labor Day by staying home. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Brent's favorite color - I asked, but I knew - is blue, so there's a lot of blue on my card.

Now, concerning the number, Brent chose the number 4. I thought sure he would say 3 since the number 3 kind of has a history with us. When he asked me to marry him, I asked him to give me 3 good reasons why we should get married.  But that's okay... 4 is no problem.

I actually used FOUR things of 4 on my card - call me an over-achiever on this particular challenge, I guess.

4 different Washi tapes
4 brads
4 layers of black cardstock (if you count the inside and the front)
4 different papers - Blue DP, Black, Metallic Gold, and White CS

So there you have it - a card featuring the color blue, the number 4, and Labor Day!

Now... let's head over to Barb's blog and Kelly's blog to see what their spouses said and what they created based on that information.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Aw poor Barb - reading this sounds like this challenge had you in fits! But you stood up to the challenge beautifully and the card is super cute - that looks like me every time I get up for school trips and facing traffic, LOL. Awesome challenge choice to Brent, too!
