Mid-Week Joy Report

What an awesome week! I've had so many JOYS! Here are just a few of them...

1. I spoke at my friend's church's Spring Banquet - theme: Bee-Utifully and Wonderfully Made.

2. There was a speaker from Bosnia in morning worship.

3. I'm visiting (as this blog post goes live) with my parents and sister for a few days.

4. I completed my personal week-long SCS Challenge (I did one of the SCS events/challenges every day this week).

5. I made 8 cards and did some Bible Journaling, too.

This is the 19th week of the year - I know this because I'm now on chapter 19 of the book 50 Truths Worth Knowing. In this chapter, Tony talks about the importance of telling the stories of your family history so future generations will not miss out on the stories of the past. He has a cassette recording that holds 100 years of family history, in the words of his great aunt Florence. 

In 1989, Tony traveled to Florence's home in Syracuse, New York, where she had lived for nearly all of her 91 years. The purpose of his visit was to learn the stories. He asked Great-Aunt Florence if he could record them as she told them. She graciously agreed, and what he now has is a treasured history of his family. 

Stories of Will who moved who moved away to become an actor, but who came home to visit and entertained the family with vaudeville routines.

Stories of Uncle Howard who burst into the home one Christmas eve during the depression, his arms loaded with gifts for the grandkids. Gifts he purchased at half-price in the final hours of the holiday shopping season.

Stories of wakes, and teas, and meetings of the Ladies' Christian Benevolent Association, all that took place in Florence's home.

Family History is Worth Hanging On To

I couldn't quite figure out what to do with this chapter, but then I decided on this stamp, thinking that as family members, we need to live our lives, because in so doing, we are leaving behind stories for future generations.
