Sassy Wings

We have a little patio off of the back of our house. The weather has been very pleasant the past couple of days, so I've enjoyed sitting out there a bit, enjoying the sounds of nature in our fairly quiet neighborhood. One of the sounds, though, is a rather sassy Robin, scolding me... since she thinks I'm too close to her nest (and the eggs she's keeping warm). The nest is actually on the corner of the neighbor's house, but that is very close to our patio.

The first day I sat out there Mama Robin actually came and sat on the fence glowering at me (do Robins do that???) while she scolded me. I looked at her and reminded her that this is "my" home and I wasn't bothering "her" home, so shush!

Since that first day, she's relaxed a bit... she flies off the nest and fusses a bit but quickly goes back to the nest and turns her back on me as if to say, "If I can't see you, you must not be there." I've noticed when I look out the window at her she is most often facing my direction, so I think it's quite funny that she turns her back on me when I am on the patio.

I've found Mama Robin quite entertaining this week.

I don't have a Robin card to show you today, but I do have a bird card.

My cardinals will come to my front window and scold me for not having the bird seeds out in time for their evening meal! I have to jump up and get them out there!

Beautiful bird design, Jeanette!
