Bittersweet

Today is one of those bittersweet moments. I've known it was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier to post what I must tell you. But the news isn't all bad... I also have some good things to share.

First, the bitter....

Jeri, the owner of the Craft Us Crazy Challenge Blog has decided it is time to close up the blog. There will be no more Craft Us Crazy Challenges. Personally, that makes me sad. I am going to miss Craft Us Crazy. But I totally support Jeri and her decision and wish her the very VERY best.

For those of you who don't know it - I have been on the Craft Us Crazy design team from the very beginning. Challenge #1 was in February of 2011. There were 20 participants. Craft Us Crazy has grown so much over the past two years. Currently there are 725 followers on the blog and it isn't unusual for there to be 300+ participants in a challenge.

Jeri, I want to thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving on your design team! I love you, my friend! Let's keep in touch!

Now, for the sweet....

Lots and LOTS of sweet!

I made it!!! Today's card is my 100th card posted to my blog this year! WOO HOO!!! I met the first part of my 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge. (You might remember I also have challenged myself to have a blog post every day of the first 100 days of 2013, so I'm not finished yet.)

And this isn't just any card........... oh no! This is the 28th of March so today's card is my Calendar Girls card.

The Calendar Girls are a blog group - we love to hang out, chat, inspire each other, cheer each other on. And once a month, one of us gets to choose a theme and we all create based on that theme. Miss March is none other than Tami, and wow! Did she give us a theme!!!

MARCH 2013 CHALLENGE
Miss March: Tami

Um, I hope I do not hurt anyone's feelings here but we are all a little bit of paper hoarders!!!

Well, we are going to have to give up the security blanket for March. I would like to see your best created card with NO designer paper. *gasp*.....*thud* {I think J just hit the floor}.

So go ahead and grab your 'old school stamps' - yep, like a set you have not used in years - and create a card for the Calendar Girls.

Oh, and let's try to keep in theme with 'use what'cha got', please no new purchases for this round. Use what'cha got...well, everything but designer paper that is!

I cannot wait to see what my friends come up with. It is always something to look forward to!

Here's my card:

Now, you know me. I love designer paper. I wasn't sure I could meet this challenge! EEK!

Sooooooooo I put my thinking cap on... and I grabbed my scorepal and created a bit of a grid on some white cardstock. Then I sponged some ink on it and created my own "designer paper". Pfft! Tami, you sure had me for a  moment, but then I started having lots and lots of fun with this.

Here's a bit of a close up (just because it's fun to see things up close sometimes):

I liked how the sponged Always Artichoke ink made those score lines pop.

Here's the inside of my card:

I didn't score all the way to the bottom inside since I thought it would be easier to write a little note and sign the card before giving it to the recipient.

I can hardly wait to see what the other Calendar Girls came up with. Please go with me as we check out their blogs (and please leave them some "love" along the way... it will make them so happy!)

Miss January - that's me

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Look at you figuring out how to make your own DP! Well done! Your card is so pretty. Great color choices and the pearl centers on your flowers and pink ribbon add the perfect touch.

First, I'm sorry to hear about the challenge blog - I know it was a favorite of yours and I'm sure you'll move on to many more wonderful things!

Second, thank you for the birthday wishes! I'm blessed :)

Last, wowzers on your card! I confess I spied this in my thumbnial brower on your AMUSE blog and wondered if we'd see it here - it's a show stopper! Lovely inking of the flowers with the beautiful centers.

Blessed that you are a Calendar Girl! x0x0

What a great idea. Love the grid paper. Kudos to Tami for making us leave our designer paper behind. Everyone is making such nice backgrounds on their own. Kind of makes you wonder why we hoard so much paper to begin with, lol.
